The
City of McHenry Parks & Recreation Department provides recreational
activities for all ages. Information about programs and facilities
is published in seasonal brochures that are mailed three times a
year to residents. Brochures are also available at local libraries
and the City Municipal Center.
There
are 32 sites totaling 473.02 acres within the city providing educational
and sports programs for residents and non-residents alike. The park
facilities include beaches, boat launches, fishing and picnic areas,
baseball fields, basketball courts, soccer and softball fields,
biking and hiking trails, playgrounds and concessions along with
bathroom facilities.

pool is open to the general public, resident and non-resident. Seasonal
passes are available for adults, children or the family.
Children up to age 10 must be accompanied and supervised by an adult
at all times.

Petersen
Park Beach is open to the public and free to city residents. Canoes,
sailboats, rowboats, paddleboats and kayaks are available for rent.
The beach is open fron 11:00am to 7:00pm daily during the summer. |
